Occupational therapy assists people of all ages to achieve independent and productive lives. Occupational therapists consider occupation to be everything people do to occupy themselves, including taking care of personal needs (self-care), enjoying life (leisure), and contributing to the social and economic fabric of their communities (work/productivity). Occupational therapy works to break down barriers impeding individual’s ability to function in everyday activities.
