Lutheran Home receives Cleveland Foundation grant to develop a Music Therapy Program

Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve has received a generous grant in excess of $150,000 to support the development of a full-time music therapy department in the facility. With the grant, Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve is proud to announce that it has hired Liz Germano. Liz is a certified Music Therapist who has provided music therapy in a variety of care settings.

Music Therapy is the clinical use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals. Music Therapy is provided by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapists assess emotional well-being, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses. Music therapists design music sessions for individuals and groups based on client needs using music performance, improvisation, song writing, lyric discussion and other music based means. Music therapy programs are reviewed with the interdisciplinary team and include ongoing evaluation and follow up.

Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve begins utilizing Balance Master technology in January 2008

The progressive, interactive Balance Master technology allows therapists to objectively assess patients and residents performing tasks ranging from essential daily living activities through more complex movements. The objective data aids in the design of effective treatment and/or training programs focused on the specific sensory and motor components underlying a patient's functional limitations.

Associate Medical Director For Skilled Rehabilitation Services Named-January 2008

Dr. Emile Sabbagh, M.D., was named Associate Medical Director of Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve with a focus on our Skilled Rehabilitation unit. Dr. Sabbagh is a board certified geriatrician with over 10 years of experience in working with patients/residents in need of rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. Dr. Sabbagh is the Medical Director of Lakewood Hospital’s ACE (Acute Care for the Elderly) unit. Dr. Sabbagh will work closely with Lutheran Home’s therapy and nursing team as well as with Dr. Amelia Llerena, Medical Director.

Main Street Building Opens

On January 12th and 13th the open house for the Main Street building was held. The open house had over 1000 individuals in attendance to see the many life enriching spaces including a cinema, chapel, library, café, indoor 2 story waterfall, 1100 gallon aquarium, beauty shop and activity rooms.
